# Agent Skill Pack

Start building with Voltage in the coding agent you already use. The **Voltage Agent Skill Pack** gives your agent the API reference, product context, and payment workflows it needs to help you write an integration, create a Lightning invoice, check a wallet balance, or add hosted checkout.

It works with **Claude Code, Codex, Hermes Agent, OpenCode, Cursor, Gemini CLI**, and other supported agent harnesses. Install it first, then describe what you want to build.

## One-command install for most agent harnesses

With your coding agent and Node.js/npm already installed, run this in your terminal:

```bash
npx skills add voltagecloud/agent-skills --global --yes
```

This installs the pack globally for supported agents detected on your computer, using shared skill locations where supported. Global installation makes the skill available across projects. The command installs skill files; it does not install the agent applications or connect to your Voltage account.

If your harness is not detected, use its command below. To choose agents interactively, run the same command without `--yes`.

### Claude Code

```bash
npx skills add voltagecloud/agent-skills --global --agent claude-code --yes
```

### Codex

```bash
npx skills add voltagecloud/agent-skills --global --agent codex --yes
```

### Hermes Agent

```bash
npx skills add voltagecloud/agent-skills --global --agent hermes-agent --yes
```

### OpenCode

```bash
npx skills add voltagecloud/agent-skills --global --agent opencode --yes
```

### Cursor

```bash
npx skills add voltagecloud/agent-skills --global --agent cursor --yes
```

### Gemini CLI

```bash
npx skills add voltagecloud/agent-skills --global --agent gemini-cli --yes
```

For additional harnesses, see the [supported agents in the skills installer](https://github.com/vercel-labs/skills#supported-agents).

## Ask your agent to get started

Open a new session in your agent after installation. Mention the `voltage-api` skill and describe the result you want. You can start writing an integration before supplying credentials:

> Use the voltage-api skill to help me build an application that accepts Lightning payments. Start with the integration plan and code, and explain what I need to configure in Voltage before testing.

Or try a specific task:

- “Use voltage-api to write code that creates a Lightning invoice for 150 sats and tracks whether it has been paid.”
- “Use voltage-api to add hosted checkout to this application.”
- “Use voltage-api to build a webhook receiver that verifies signatures and reconciles payment state.”
- “Explain which parts of this integration apply to my credit-backed or node-backed wallet.”

The pack currently includes the `voltage-api` skill. It covers wallets, payments, USD quotes, webhooks, balances, and checkout, with the Voltage OpenAPI contract as the authoritative API source. Your agent can generate application code and, with configured credentials and your direction, make API requests using curl.

## Connect a development wallet

To make API calls, you need a Voltage organization, environment, wallet, and an API key for that environment. If these are not set up yet, follow the [Wallet Setup Guide](/wallet-setup-guide), then the API-key instructions in the [Developer Guide](/developer-guide).

For local agent use, the pack can read configuration from `~/.voltage/.env`. Create the directory and file with private permissions:

```bash
mkdir -p ~/.voltage
chmod 700 ~/.voltage
(umask 077; touch ~/.voltage/.env)
chmod 600 ~/.voltage/.env
```

Edit the file locally and replace these placeholders with your development environment's values:

```dotenv
VOLTAGE_API_KEY=your-environment-api-key
VOLTAGE_ORGANIZATION_ID=your-organization-uuid
VOLTAGE_ENVIRONMENT_ID=your-environment-uuid
VOLTAGE_WALLET_ID=your-development-wallet-uuid
```

The wallet ID is an optional default. Keep API keys out of agent conversations and source control. The optional request helpers require Python 3.9+ and curl.

Start with a read-only check:

> Use voltage-api to check my configured wallet's network and available balance. Do not create a payment.

Then try a test invoice:

> Verify that my configured wallet is on Mutinynet, then create a Lightning invoice for 150 sats and give me the invoice to pay from another test wallet.

Creating an invoice does not mean it has been paid. After paying it with test funds, ask your agent to check the payment status. See [Staging Environment](/staging-environment) for development testing guidance.

## Keep the pack up to date

```bash
npx skills update voltage-api --global
```

Find the skill source, configuration details, and examples in the [Voltage Agent Skill Pack repository](https://github.com/voltagecloud/agent-skills). You can continue through the Developer Guide whenever you want to inspect the API or follow the manual setup steps yourself.
