# Credit-backed

Use this path when Voltage Payments wallets are backed by a Voltage-provided line of credit and your team does not operate the underlying Lightning node.

## Start here

1. Review [How It Works](/how-it-works) to understand the Payments model.
2. Complete [Credit-backed Setup](/credit-backed-setup).
3. Use the [Staging Environment](/staging-environment) to build and validate without production funds.
4. Follow the [Developer Guide](/developer-guide) and [Voltage Payments API](/voltage-payments-api).
5. Configure [Payments Access](/payments-access) separately for each environment.
6. Validate sending, receiving, wallet behavior, quotes, wallet policies, assets, and webhooks before go-live.

## Core implementation guides

- [Wallet Management](/wallet-management) for wallets, balances, line-of-credit association, and wallet-policy behavior.
- [Sending](/sending) for payment sends and quote handling.
- [Receiving](/receiving) for payment requests, receives, assets, and quote handling.
- [Webhooks](/webhooks) for payment-status events.
- [Voltage Payments API](/voltage-payments-api) for the canonical wallets, payments, quotes, wallet policies, assets, and lines-of-credit resource reference.
- [Migrating to Credit Backed Payments](/migrating-to-credit-backed-payments) when moving from a Node-backed deployment.

## Line-of-credit workflows

- [Sending (USD Line of Credit)](/sending-usd-line-of-credit)
- [Receiving (USD Line of Credit)](/receiving-usd-line-of-credit)
- [Sending (BTC Line of Credit)](/sending-btc-line-of-credit)
- [Receiving (BTC Line of Credit)](/receiving-btc-line-of-credit)

## What is different in this path

Credit-backed customers use the shared Payments API without managing node credentials, channels, direct LND access, or node treasury operations. Documentation for underwriting, pricing, legal terms, and customer-specific credit conditions is handled outside the technical implementation guide.
